Game Drives

Twice-daily safari drives delve deep into this extraordinary reserve, with your expert guide revealing the magic and hidden wonders of the Masai Mara at every turn.
Safari drives allow you to cover vast distances in search of wildlife, venturing to areas where big cats or roaming elephant herds have recently been sighted. The most rewarding wildlife encounters typically occur during the cooler hours of early morning and late afternoon, when animals are at their most active—so our game drives are timed to make the most of these golden hours.
You’ll explore the reserve in our open-sided, canvas-covered 4x4 vehicles, custom-designed for comfort and optimal game viewing. Each vehicle features individual bucket seats, generous legroom, charging points, and fully stocked fridges to keep your drinks refreshingly cold. Maasai blankets are also provided to keep you warm during the cooler drives. To ensure a more personal and immersive experience, we limit each vehicle to a maximum of six guests.
For keen photographers, safari drives in the Masai Mara offer an unparalleled experience. From dramatic skylines and the awe-inspiring migration to intimate moments with the region’s diverse wildlife, the photographic possibilities are endless. Our experienced guides are skilled at positioning the vehicle to help you capture that perfect shot—just let them know what you're aiming for. We also provide bean bags and camera stabilising arms to support steady, professional-quality shots from the vehicle.
Guests staying at Little Naibor enjoy exclusive use of a private safari vehicle as part of their stay. For all other guests, a private vehicle can be arranged at an additional cost.'
Bush Meals
Before the crack of dawn, our chefs prepare a generous picnic breakfast, complete with flasks of freshly brewed coffee, for you to enjoy during your game drive. When the moment feels right, your guide will find a scenic spot to stretch your legs and take in the view over a leisurely breakfast.
If you'd like to spend the entire day out on safari, we’ll pack a delicious picnic lunch for you to enjoy beneath the shade of the iconic Balanites trees, scattered across the Mara plains—offering you the freedom to follow the wildlife wherever it leads.
For a truly magical evening, we can arrange a private bush dinner under the stars. Perfect for couples or honeymooners, these candlelit meals offer an unforgettable ‘Out of Africa’ experience in the heart of the wilderness.'
Sundowners
Afternoon safari drives draw to a close as they unfold into the golden hours of sunset, made even more memorable with a sundowner stop on the vast plains. Pause to enjoy a refreshing gin and tonic or a glass of wine as you watch the sun dip below the horizon. Sunsets in the Masai Mara are always breathtaking spectacles, offering an unforgettable African safari moment.
Nature & Birding Walks
Although bush walks aren’t permitted within the National Reserve, guests are welcome to enjoy nature and birding walks across our expansive 20-hectare private property. Led by a knowledgeable guide, this relaxed activity is perfect for adults and children alike—offering the chance to stretch your legs between safari drives and discover the smaller wonders of the wild.
You’ll be amazed at how much there is to see just around camp—from colorful birds and monkeys flitting through the trees to fascinating insects and animal tracks. Along the way, you’ll also learn about the traditional uses of local plants and trees—knowledge passed down through generations. Younger explorers will particularly enjoy searching for feathers, identifying different types of dung, and spotting hidden signs of wildlife.
For those looking for a deeper immersion into the wilderness, we also offer guided walks beyond the reserve, accompanied by an experienced armed ranger. Departing early, these excursions allow you to experience the bush awakening at first light. Your guide will select a beautiful, remote spot for a picnic breakfast surrounded by nature—before heading back to camp for a leisurely lunch. These off-site walks take place approximately an hour from camp and carry an additional fee.
Hot Air Balloon Safari
For an unforgettable, birds-eye view of the iconic Masai Mara National Reserve, we can arrange a magical hot air balloon safari. Your adventure begins before dawn, with an early morning departure to reach the launch site in time for a 6:00 AM takeoff.
The flight lasts around an hour and offers a peaceful way to view the landscape and wildlife from above. Depending on the conditions, the pilot may fly low over the plains or rise higher for wider views of the reserve. It’s a unique way to take in the scale and beauty of the Mara, with great opportunities for photography along the way.
After touching down, your experience continues with a traditional champagne breakfast served in the bush—a memorable conclusion to a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. You'll then enjoy a safari drive back to camp, in time for a relaxing lunch on the banks of the river.
Cultural Visits
To deepen your connection with the Masai Mara, we can arrange visits to nearby Maasai communities. These experiences offer insight into both traditional ways of life and the modern-day challenges faced by the Maasai people.
Guests are welcomed into a Manyatta (traditional homestead) to see firsthand how families live, manage resources like water and firewood, and access healthcare and education. You’ll also have the chance to visit the local market, where handmade Maasai crafts, jewelry, and clothing are available for purchase.
The visit offers a thoughtful look at both the enduring cultural practices and the ways in which the community is adapting to a changing world.
Children at Naibor
Naibor warmly welcomes families. There’s a wide range of activities to keep younger guests engaged—whether with their families or under the watchful eye of one of our experienced guides.
Our team loves inspiring curiosity in the next generation of explorers. Children might enjoy spotting the “Little Five” or the “Ugly Five” on safari drives, learning to track animals on a nature walk, or discovering how to start a fire the traditional Maasai way. They can also try their hand at making a Maasai bow and arrow, or beading crafts.
In the evenings, kids can toast marshmallows around the campfire. The camp also has a variety of board games on hand—Chess, Checkers, Scrabble, Monopoly, Backgammon, and cards.
Special Occasions
Life is full of moments worth celebrating—why not mark them while on safari? Whether it's a honeymoon, anniversary, milestone birthday, or even a wedding, Naibor offers a truly memorable setting for your special occasion.
Our team loves to celebrate and will go above and beyond to make your time with us unforgettable. With the warmth of genuine Kenyan hospitality and the beauty of the Masai Mara as your backdrop, every celebration becomes something extraordinary.
