About Us

In an era of overtourism, where large operators are taking over many of the smaller safari camps, Naibor is proud to remain independently owned and run. We stay true to the original spirit of safari—authentic, intimate, and connected to nature—while offering the modern comforts and thoughtful touches that make your stay both memorable and relaxing.

Naibor Camps was established in 2005, originally designed by renowned lodge and camp designer Anthony Russell. Today, it is proudly owned by Nigel Archer, Satyan Patel, and William and Lisa Sykes.

Our dedicated team—chefs, guides, front and back-of-house staff, and managers—brings warmth, professionalism, and a shared passion for hospitality. Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming guests from around the world who value authentic safari experiences.

We are also deeply connected to the local Maasai communities, with many of our team members coming from nearby towns and villages. They bring not only a wealth of knowledge and experience, but also a strong commitment to preserving and protecting the people, wildlife, and landscapes that make this place so special.

After studying hotel management in the Netherlands, Luca pursued his passion for guiding in Botswana, where he became a certified Lead Walking and Trails Safari Guide, as well as a FGASA NQF2-qualified guide. Most recently, he’s worked with film crews documenting Africa’s iconic big cats.

Luca joined the Naibor family in early 2025, returning home to combine his management and guiding expertise with his lifelong connection to the Kenyan wilderness.

  • Meals and Dietary Requests
To ensure your stay is as enjoyable as possible, please inform us of any food preferences, dietary restrictions, or allergies in advance so that we can prepare accordingly. We offer a wide selection of soft drinks, beers, house wines, and selected house spirits, all of which are included in your rate. If you have a specific wine or spirit in mind for your stay, please let us know in advance, and we will do our best to accommodate your request at an additional cost.
  • Drinking Water
We provide mineral water in all rooms and during activities. In an effort to minimize plastic waste, we decant water from large recyclable containers. Upon arrival, you’ll receive a reusable water bottle to refill throughout your stay, perfect for game drives. This bottle is yours to keep as a memento of your time with us.
  • Laundry
We offer a complimentary laundry service for all guests. As all laundry is hand-washed and air-dried in the wilderness, we kindly ask that you refrain from sending delicate or special items.
  • Security and Wildlife around Camp
Naibor is an unfenced camp situated in the heart of the Masai Mara, where wildlife roams freely around us. At night, an Askari (night watchman) will escort you to and from your tent with a torch for your safety. During the day, it’s safe to walk around camp, but we encourage you to always be aware of your surroundings. You may hear unfamiliar sounds at night—these are simply the sounds of nature as wildlife goes about its business. Rest assured, you are completely safe in your tent.
  • Malaria
We recommend consulting with your medical practitioner regarding anti-malarial medication before your trip. Although Kenya is classified by the World Health Organisation as a region with potential malaria risk, many areas you’ll visit during your safari are remote or at higher altitudes, where the risk is lower. Our tents are equipped with netted windows and doors, and our staff takes precautions against mosquitoes during evening turn-down service. For added protection, we advise wearing long sleeves and trousers in the evenings, along with socks and closed shoes. We also provide complimentary insect repellent for your convenience.
  • Climate and Seasons
The Masai Mara sits at an altitude of approximately 5,300 feet (1,615 meters) above sea level. Days are usually warm, while mornings and evenings can be quite chilly. Temperatures generally range from a maximum of 30°C / 86°F to a minimum of 10°C / 50°F. Below is an overview of what to expect during different months, though please keep in mind that weather can be unpredictable, and climate change is influencing traditional seasonal patterns: January through March: A warm, dry period ideal for spotting many newborn animals. April and May: Rain showers bring a lush, vibrant landscape. While the rains can be unpredictable, they don’t interfere with game sightings, and fewer travellers mean a more peaceful experience. June: A great time to visit as the rains typically subside, the wildebeest begin arriving, and the reserve is still quiet. July through October: Peak season for witnessing the Great Migration, with millions of wildebeest and zebra passing right by Naibor. November and December: Short rains return, transforming the landscape into a lush green paradise yet again.
  • Gratuities Guideline
While tipping is entirely at your discretion, it is customary to tip your safari staff as a gesture of appreciation. There are recommended guidelines for both a general staff tip—shared among all camp staff—and a separate tip for your guide. Tipping is done at the end of your stay, and our camp management team will be happy to advise on suggested amounts or answer any questions you may have.
  • Travel Insurance
All guests are required to have comprehensive travel and medical insurance that covers trip cancellation, medical expenses, personal belongings, and money. While Naibor takes every possible care of our guests and their property, we cannot accept responsibility for any accident, injury, illness, loss, or damage that may occur during your stay. We strongly recommend arranging appropriate travel insurance in your home country prior to departure.
  • Entry / Visa Information for Kenya
All eligible travellers are required to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) before beginning their journey to Kenya. Applications must be submitted through the official Kenyan Government website. Please check with your travel agent or relevant authority to confirm whether you require a visa for entry into Kenya.
  • Children on Safari
Children on Safari..Children under 8 years are welcome by special request. However, please note that Naibor is an unfenced, wilderness camp, and parental supervision is required at all times. For safety reasons, children under 12 are not permitted to join walking safaris. We kindly ask parents to be mindful of other guests while travelling with children. To help make your stay more comfortable, we offer early dinners for children and can arrange child-minding services in advance if needed.

There is reliable mobile phone reception and 4G coverage throughout the camp. Complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi is also available in the main communal areas for your convenience.
  • Accessibility
Naibor is set within a riverine forest, and while our pathways are natural, we do our best to make the camp accessible and comfortable for guests with special needs. If you or a member of your party has specific accessibility requirements, please let us know in advance. We’ll do everything we can to ensure your stay is both enjoyable and accommodating.
  • What to Pack
On safari, comfort is key. We recommend durable, loose-fitting, lightweight cotton clothing in muted or “bush” colours for game viewing. Something warm is essential for early mornings and evenings, as temperatures can drop. The sun can be strong at altitude, so a good hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are a must. Please note that luggage on safari aircraft is limited to 15kg (33lbs) in soft-sided bags only. Be sure to label your luggage clearly with luggage tags, in case it gets misplaced during international or domestic travel. Essential Items to Pack: * Sun hat or cap with a brim * Sunglasses (polarised recommended) * High SPF sunscreen and lip balm * Light, breathable clothing (in neutral tones) * Warm fleece or puffer jacket * Lightweight waterproof or windbreaker jacket * Comfortable walking shoes or boots * Flip flops or sandals (for around camp) Other Useful Items: * Insect repellent (DEET or natural alternatives) * Small daypack for game drives or short walks * Torch or headlamp with extra batteries * Good quality binoculars (a must for wildlife viewing) * Camera, memory cards, and charging cables * Travel adaptor (Type G – UK style) * Personal medications and a small first aid kit * Travel-sized laundry detergent (if you’d like to wash small items) * Lightweight scarf or buff (great for sun protection) * Books or a journal * Copies of travel documents and insurance
  • Payment for Extras
You can settle any extra activities in camp using Visa, Mastercard, USD cash, or Kenyan Shillings. Please note that staff tips should be given in cash, either in USD or Kenyan Shillings. For ease of transaction, it’s recommended to travel with small denominations of USD cash. We also accept M-Pesa payments if you have an active M-Pesa account.
